Colts moving on without key people

The Indianapolis Colts will be one team to watch closely throughout training camp considering the major offseason changes that took place.

The biggest change has to be at the top after head coach Tony Dungy decided to retire.

Dungy, along with some key members of the offense, were the biggest constants during the Colts’ playoff runs. The team also lost wide receiver Marvin Harrison, though it can be argued he won’t be missed all that much because of the sharp decline in his play.

Nonetheless, those are two very key people who have been part of the Colts’ stable organization for a long, long time who are now no longer a part of the team they helped build.

New head coach Jim Caldwell will have his work cut out for him establishing the same rapport with the players that Dungy had, although it will help that he has been an assistant coach with the Colts for a few years.

Colts re-sign Hagler

The Colts re-signed linebacker Tyjuan Hagler, Wednesday, April 8, leaving the team with five unrestricted free agents.

Hagler spent his first four NFL seasons with the Colts, starting seven games in ’07 when he had career highs in takes at 60, solo tackles-34, and one sack, but an injury to his pectoral muscle last summer left him missing the first seven games. He would up starting three games and finishing with 21 tackles and one forced fumble.

The Colts have signed linebacker Adam Seward, a five-year veteran. The others still unsigned are safety Matt Giordano, cornerback Keiwan Ratliff, running back Dominic Rhodes, punter Hunter Smith and defensive end Josh Thomas.
