Manning upset with changes

Indianapolis Colts star quarterback Peyton Manning said that he is upset by the recent coaching carousel on the offensive side of the ball.

Manning said he was frustrated by the lack of communication from the organization about what was happening with the coaches.

Offensive coordinator Tom Moore decided to retire in order to take advantage of the league’s pension system.

You certainly don’t want to upset your star quarterback, but it seems that the disorganization in Colts camp has done just that.

How will Manning play without Moore?

With the retirement of offensive coordinator Tom Moore, it’s fair to ask how exactly it will affect the play of Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning?

Moore was instrumental throughout Manning’s career in helping him understand opposing defenses and giving him the latitude to change plays at the line of scrimmage.

He also helped design a fantastic offense and suggest what players the team should bring in to help Manning and Co.

The veteran quarterback is now going to have to adjust to a totally new offensive coordinator and a slightly different scheme, although it’s doubtful there will be too many changes.

Moore announces retirement

Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Tom Moore has announced he is retiring from the NFL, which should make this season all that more interesting for the team.

The Colts are already changing gears at head coach after Tony Dungy retired and released former star wide receiver Marvin Harrison. Jim Caldwell has replaced Dungy as the head coach.

Oddly enough, Moore’s loss could be the one that hits this team the hardest. During his time with Indianapolis, Moore had helped make the Colts offense the most explosive in the league.

The Colts have announced that assistant coach Clyde Christensen will take over the reigns from Moore, although I’m sure he will have plenty of help from quarterback Peyton Manning.

Colts cut longtime personnel advisor

Showing that no one is immune from this economic downturn, the Indianapolis Colts have cut the position of player personnel advisor.

Don Anile was praised often by general manager Bill Polian for the team’s many successful draft picks and by the ability to sign undrafted free agents who became key contributors to the team.

Polian added that Anile was one of his closest friends in all of pro football and that he is going to greatly miss him on both a professional and also a personal level.

The team also eliminated several positions in the scouting department as part of a restructuring to make the organization as efficient as possible and cost some costs.

It’s a sad time for everyone, and it’s always disheartening to see people lose their jobs.

Colts add depth at RB

The Indianapolis Colts added some depth at the running back position by selecting Donald Brown from Connecticut with the No. 27 overall pick.

It’s clear the team is not sold on the durability of starting running back Joseph Addai and doesn’t think Dominic Rhodes is in their long-term plans.

Brown is a versatile back who has the ability to catch passes out of the backfield and to pick up the blitz effectively.

The team then used its second-round draft pick to beef up its undersized defensive line, selecting defensive tackle Fili Moala from USC.

Moala was just one of many players from USC’s defense to be a high selection in the NFL Draft.
